A 41-year old man is nursing two bullet wounds after being shot at by criminals at in Solwezi.

North-Western Province Police Deputy Commissioner Dr Fred Mulenga has confirmed the development and has identified the victim as Hassan Muhammad.

The incident happened at Petroda Service Station in Kimiteto area yesterday around 09:00 hours.

Three unknown male criminals chased the victim as he was leaving his office with a view to go and deposit undisclosed amount of money to the Bank.

A Pistol was pointed at the victim as he was trying to run away and was shot twice with one bullet hitting him on the shoulder while the other in the right ribs.

The criminals got away with a bag containing K160, 000.

Police quickly rushed to the scene and managed to apprehend one suspect, recovered one Taurus Pistol with serial number ABJ900034, Black inn colour, nine millimeter with no magazine and ammunition.

Meanwhile, an inquiry has been opened following the suspect’ death after he was beaten by a mob following the robbery.

Courageous members of the public gave chase to the suspects after they staged a robbery and managed to apprehend Stallone Mumba now the deceased.

Police rescued the deceased and sustained multiple body injuries.

He was taken to Solwezi General Hospital where he was pronounced dead while the body was deposited into the Mortuary at the same Hospital awaiting identification from relatives.
