The Southern Centre for Constructive Resolution of Disputes SACCORD has welcomed President Hakainde Hichilema’s participation in the SADC Heads of State Extraordinary Summit which looked at the security and peace in Mozambique among others.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe says there is no doubt that when one country suffers from issues to do with peace within the sub-region, all countries are affected owing to the transition of the nature of conflicts.

He says it is in this regard that Zambia has a duty to bring about peace in Mozambique which is critical in the creation of regional security and stability.

And Mr Cheembe has called on President Hichilema and SADC leaders to focus on undertaking robust conflict prevention in neighbouring countries where there are conflicts, Mozambique in particular.

He has observed the need to encourage promotion of civil society organizations and stakeholders’ dialogue on violent extremism, religious co-existence and equitable distribution of resources.
