UPND YOUTHS IN TUSSLE WITH MINES MINISTER OVER BLACK MOUNTAIN
Written by newsroom on January 12, 2022
The ruling United Party for National Development UPND youths in Kitwe are aggrieved over the manner in which Minister of Mines Paul Kabuswe is handling affairs regarding small scale mining at the Black Mountain.
Yesterday, youths from different Constituencies attempted to stage a peaceful protest demanding for a clear roadmap on how activities will be conducted at the slug dump once operations resume.
In a video obtained by Flava Fm News, youths are heard crying to President Hakainde Hichilema to look into the matter especially that they are the majority who voted massively for him in the last year’s August polls.
In the same video, they are heard accusing the Minister of meeting small scale miners’ kingpins popularly known as Jerabos through private engagements where he is being given money for the issuance of 10 percent shares at the slug dump.
Last year, Mr Kabuswe ordered the suspension of all small scale mining activities at the Black Mountain to pave way for proper modalities so that more youths can benefit.
Mr Kabuswe could not be reached for a comment by Press time.
