Government working tirelessly to ensure Universal access to water and sanitation

Minister of Water Development and Sanitation Mike Mposha says government is working tirelessly to ensure there is universal access to water and sanitation in the country amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr Mposha says government through his Ministry will push for an agenda that compels water utility companies to ensure they improve on service delivery during the pandemic in a bid to avoid the spread of the virus.

The Minister who is on a tour of water utility companies’ facility on the Copperbelt said his presence in the province is to appreciate how services are being offered as access to safe and clean drinking water to the people is important.

He said this when he paid a courtesy call on Kitwe District Commissioner Lawrence Mwanza this morning.

And Kitwe District Commissioner Lawrence Mwanza said with the outbreak of the pandemic, it is important that people have access to safe and clean drinking water adding that good sanitation is key.

Meanwhile, Mr Mwanza says he is saddened with the rampant vandalism on the water utility company’s property but was quick to state that his office will work closely with Nkana Water in safeguarding the property.
