Government says it has more maize in stock that would last for the whole year and guarantees food security despite the poor rainfall pattern being experienced so far.
Minister of Agriculture Mtolo Phiri has also said the Ministry is anaylizing seriously, to what extent it should offload on the market from the storage facilities when need arises on a monthly basis.
He has further revealed that the country currently has about two Million metric tons of maize in storage facilities.
He was responding to a question from Movement for Democratic Change MDC Deputy Media Director Edmond Miti who wanted to find out the plans government has to mitigate the expected food crisis following the dry spells being experienced in the country.
