NAQEZ NOT TO ALLOW GRADE 7 EXAM CANDIDATES INTO GRADE 8 NEXT YEAR

Written by on November 24, 2021

The National Action for Quality Education in Zambia NAQEZ has said it will not accept progression of all grade 7 examination candidates into grade 8 next year.

NAQEZ says unlike in the past when learners who sat for grade 7 examination progressed into grade 8 even when they failed, this time around it will not and that the next option will attract a peaceful match against the progression.

NAQEZ Executive Director Aaron Chansa says the organisation strongly believe that the new Minister of Education Douglas Siakalima and his team will not entertain what he terms as retrogressive and unpopular practice.

Mr Chansa says the Minister must act now in the best interest of quality education and the country.

He suggests that out of the total 900 marks, candidates who will get more than 600 marks should be allowed to get into grade 8 in January, 2022.

Mr Chansa has also appealed to the Ministry of Education to allow those who will fail the 2021 grade 7 examination to repeat in order for the to make academic amends next year.

He says the current policy where examinations Council of Zambia expires grade 7 examination numbers has proved fatal to the education system saying it must be abandoned as it forces those who fail the examinations to rush into grade 8 just to keep their exam numbers valid.
