PF GREED A LESSON TO UPND
Written by newsroom on November 22, 2021
Socio-Political Anthropologist Dr. James Musonda has stated that the unfolding chaos for workers and disastrous labour situation in Zambia is a consequence of the greed of the Patriotic Front and should be a lesson for the United Party for National Development Government.
Dr. Musonda observes that the recent reversal and reinstatement of the debt swap for civil servants, the delayed payment of retrenchment packages, and the loss of retrenchment packages by miners to Banks through loan recovery reveal the short term and short sighted populist policies of the PF government.
He says the unfolding chaos highlights what happens when selfish leaders sacrifice national interests for individual personal political gain.
Dr. Musonda states that the UPND Government has many lessons to learn but they are unfortunately adopting the same populist policies that unseat the PF as it can be seen through the new government’s prioritised social spending over investment in key sectors such as the mines at a time when the commodity prices are at their highest.
He has since advised Government to avoid populist policies as well as consumption over investments.
