Beautiful Gates Executive Director Bill Kaping’a has appealed to the New Dawn Government not to be swayed by what people are saying regarding the removal of former President Edgar Lungu’s immunity.

And Kaping’a has charged that there is nothing like political witch hunt prosecuting former senior government officials over corruption.

He says what will be prudent to do for now, is removing President Lungu’s immunity so that it serves as a lesson to other leaders.

He observes the level of impunity the people of Zambia witnessed under the PF regime should not be left unchecked.

In his reaction to former Zambian Ambassador to Ethiopia Emmanuel Mwamba who said there is a pattern that has emerged where new Presidents engage in trashing the legacy of their predecessors, accuse of massive acts of corruption and prosecute them while seeking to consolidate their new power gains, Mr Kaping’a says he find it ludicrous that a seasoned diplomat of Mwamba’s stature can choose to spin around issues.

He says this is the 21st Century in which former leaders are now being called to account for their wanton transgressions everywhere saying those accusing government prosecutions of wrong doers as political witch hunt are enemies of development good governance

There have been calls from various stakeholders demanding that President Lungu’s immunity is removed.
