A social and economic expert has welcomed the move by the government to release Constituency Development Funds CDF to all the 156 constituencies.
Partner Siabutuba says CDF plays a critical role in enhancing social and economic services ,considering that Government’s budget has suffered a great deal.
He says Constituency Development Fund will contribute to driving the social and economic services at community level.
Mr Siabutuba who is also Choma Central CDF Committee Chairperson said the release of CDF funds towards the end of the year, puts money at risk as there is pressure placed on the implementation process of projects resulting into poor workmanship and creates opportunities for misuse as implementers would want to speed up so as not to return the money back to the treasury.
He says the late release of CDF has resulted into a lot of projects turned into white elephants.
Yesterday government announced the release of the total allocated Constituency Development Fund as budgeted in the 2020 National budget.
Local Government Minister Charles Banda said 156 Constituencies will receive a total of K1.6 million.
