The Kitwe City Council KCC has announced that it has presented a proposed schedule of works to the Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Development on urgent roads that need to be worked on.

Kitwe Mayor Christopher Kang’ombe announced yesterday that Kitwe City Council, held a second meeting with technocrats from the Road Development Agency RDA Head Office and the Director planning from the Ministry of Infrastructure Development on the need to work on roads in Kitwe .

Eng. Kang’ombe reveals that RDA will assess the scope of works and then liaise with the National Road Fund Agency NRFA for funding and that the review meeting will take place at the end of this month.

Among the proposed roads to be worked on are; the 10 km  Ring Road  from Central Street to Mindolo  up to Chibuluma Road, 2 km Independence Road  from Kwacha -Kazembe junction up to Oxford Road in Town Center.

Other roads to be worked on are; the Construction of a 16 km road from Bulangililo leading to the Industrial Park in New Kitwe across the Kafue River and the replacement or reinforcement of five bridges on the Kitwe stream that  might collapse.

He adds that other roads are not indicated because they were already submitted in the 2020 annual work plan for RDA as funding is not yet secured.
