The Zambia National Education Coalition (ZANEC) is pleased to see the Ministry of General Education implementing some policy measures aimed at improving the administration of examinations.

ZANEC Executive Director George Hamusunga said initiatives such as the limiting of the examination period to only one month, separation of practical examinations from the theory and the rezoning of examination centres will go a long way in eliminating examination malpractices.

Mr Hamusunga said through the policy reforms, the Ministry of General Education has demonstrated political will in securing the credibility of examinations at all levels.

He has however noted that in order to implement the policies and ensure smooth administration of examinations there is need to prioritize the disbursement of adequate funding.

Mr Hamusunga has further expressed hope that the Ministry of General Education will intensify their surveillance initiatives against examination leakages throughout the month of November and ensure that all the culprits found wanting are dealt with decisively in order to deter potential offenders.
