The Kitwe Teaching Hospital has screened 1,311 women for cervical cancer between from January to August, 2019.
Hospital Public Relations Officer Phoebe Chileya has stated that out of those screened 227 were confirmed cervical cancer cases.
Ms Chileya has stated that during the same period, last year the hospital screened 1, 046 of which 159 were confirmed cervical cancer cases.
She has attributed the increase in the number of screened women to the sensitizations the hospital has been carrying out among patients and caregivers.
