The Zambia National Union of Teachers (ZNUT) has attributed to alleged witchcraft practiced by unknown people the refusal by most teachers to work in rural areas.

ZNUT Spokesperson Joe Kasaka has told Flava Fm News in an interview that allegations witchcraft being practiced in most parts of Zambia is real.

Mr Kasaka has since appealed to traditional leaders to engage their subjects if they are to understand the reasons why refuse to be transferred to rural areas.

He says most teachers deployed to rural areas have been complaining of acts of witchcraft which he says has led to most of them migrating to urban places.

Mr Kasaka has stated that the union will not risk exposing its members to any forms of life threatening conditions hence the need for traditional leaders to play its role in educating their subjects.
