Minister of Higher Education Prof. Nkandu Luo has maintained that the Copperbelt University (CBU) will remain closed until security features are put in place.
Speaking in parliament yesterday, Prof. Luo disclosed that her office had requested for K 10 million from the Ministry of Finance to address securities issues at CBU.
She said government is putting place measures such as CCTV cameras and access cards to help strengthen security related matters at the Copperbelt University.
Prof. Luo is confidence that security features being put in place will help serve as a deterrent measure for future riots.
The Copperbelt University has remained closed for over three months following Prof. Luo’s announcement of an indefinite closure of the Institution early this year.
