University of Zambia (UNZA) students fought running battles this morning following the death of a female first year student last evening.
The female first year student identified only as Mpundu is believed to have died of Typhoid, a disease students claim broke out last year at the higher learning institution.
A University of Zambia student who sought anonymity told Flava Fm News from Lusaka that the student protests which began at 08 hours today were meant to press the Vice Chancellor to address the matter.
He also said the demonstrations are meant to demand for proper measures to be put in place to ensure that students have access to only clean water.
The student said the protests will continue if management does not give a positive response.
Other students however called for the ban to squatting as a long term solution to addressing the problem of typhoid.
So far three UNZA students affected by the disease are said to be admitted at the campus clinic.
