A Civic Leader in Luanshya has attributed the increased lawlessness in the country to reluctance by police to implement laws.

Mpatamato ward 26 Councillor Selestin Chomba says police are not doing enough to curb matters of crime and as a result not helping civic leaders who are fighting to ensure that rime is reduced.

Responding to concerns by a Luanshya resident who has accused Luanshya Municpal council and councillors of failing to stop underage drinking, Councillor Chomba  said civic leader are equally disappointed with police conduct because when culprits are arrested, they are quickly released.

Councillor Chomba has urged police to tighten laws and ensure culprits are issued with penalties that will deter them from repeating a crime.
